Spend a sunny vacation on spring or autumn holidays in splendid and graceful Uzbekistan, where you will explore the ancient cities and plunge into environment of striking contrasts. In a few days you will travel through green oasis and picturesque mountains, the arid desert Kyzylkum and see the azure lake Aidarkul with lots of fish.

A short tour to the spring holidays in Uzbekistan includes visiting the most famous landmarks of the country: two of the brightest pearls of the Great Silk Road - Bukhara and Samarkand, as well as the authentic mountain village Uhum, located deep in the Nuratau Mountains.

The cities of Uzbekistan smell sweet blooming cherries and apples in the spring. In bazaars it is impossible to pass by ripe, sugar strawberries and sweet cherries. Amazing Uzbek cuisine is a rich palette of tastes, and the sun still does not burn your head as much as in summer - the time for a comfortable journey through Uzbekistan!

 

DAY-BY-DAY PROGRAM:

 

DAY 1:

 

TASHKENT

- Arrival in Tashkent. Meeting at the airport.

- Transfer and accommodation in hotel.

- Free time. Night in Tashkent.

 

DAY 2:

 

TASHKENT - URGENCH – KHIVA 

- Breakfast in the hotel.

- Departure to Urgench by plane.

- Arrival in Urgench.

- Transfer to Khiva and hotel accommodation.

- Khiva – is a beautiful and ancient town, perfect for exploring on foot, with impressive four walls at the center of each side of the old city. Upon entering through its gates we are welcomed by high minarets and many madrasas. We will visit many of these monuments including:  The Kalta Minor Minaret and Mohammed Rakhim Khan Madrasah; Juma Mosque (XVII c.); The Islom-Khodja complex which includes mosque and minaret, The Kuhna Ark – the main fortress; The Pakhlavon Mahmud Mausoleum complex; Toza Bog Palace – the summer palace of Mohammed Rakhim Khan II.

- Dinner.

- Night in Khiva.

 

DAY 3:

 

KHIVA - BUKHARA (450 km, 7-8 hours) 

- After breakfast in the hotel, transfer to Bukhara via Kyzylkum desert and Amu-Darya river.

Kizil Kum desert is the biggest deserted area in Central Asia. Driving through the desert you can meet a herd of ships led by a cowboy on a camel. Throughout the centuries desert has been a home for many nomadic people. Amu Darya river – old Oxin, is one of the two biggest rivers of Central Asia can be observed from the road when it is 80 km to Urgench. The big dam dividing the river into 5 canals. Two of them flow to Turkmenistan and three to Uzbekistan.

- Arrival & accommodation at the hotel.

- Free time.

- Night in Bukhara.

 

 

 

 

 

DAY 4:

 

BUKHARA 

- Breakfast in hotel.

On the fourth day explore: the mausoleum of the Samanids (IX-X cc.) - the pearl of Central Asia; the tomb of Chashmai Ayub (XII century.); Bolo House complex including a reservoir; Friday mosque and minaret; the Arc citadel (residential and office buildings: the mosque, a prison, a harem, the treasury, the residence of the Emir, etc.); Poi Kalon complex (XII-XVI cc.) which includes the Kalon Mosque, Mir-Arab and the famous Kalon minaret.

- Lunch time.

- After lunch, explore: one of the biggest architectural ensembles of Bukhara "Lyabi House." The oldest part of the complex is Madrasah Kulbaba-Kukeldash, which has 160 cells and it is the biggest in Bukhara. Madrasah "Nadir Devanbegi" was built on the order of vizier (minister) Nadir-devanbegi shortly after the pool, which completed the ensemble “Lyabi- House”. The oldest mosque Magoki Attori is also located by the ensemble of “Lyabi House”. Also see Chor Minor Madrasah, built in 1807 on money of Turkmen traveler. Until present time four minarets were preserved, which give the name to this complex.

- Free time. Night in Bukhara.

 

DAY 5:

 

BUKHARA - NURATA - LAKE AYDARKUL -YURT CAMP

- Breakfast at the hotel.

- After breakfast explore summer palace of Emir “Sitorai –Mokhi Khosa”.

- On the way you visit the pottery workshop in Gijduvan. The Gijduvan pottery workshop is known throughout Uzbekistan and is supported by UNESCO.

- Stop by the ruins of Rabat-i-Malik Caravanserai, which is under reconstruction, dating from the 11th century, and Sardoba (caravan water reservoir).

- Transfer to the city of Nurata.

- Lunch.

- After lunch excursion includes visiting the fortress of Alexander the Great, Nur, Chashma complex.

- Transfer to the Lake Aydarkul. Swim and walk on the beach.

- Further transfer to the yurt camp. Walking around the neighborhood. Riding camels.

- Dinner by the fire, accompanied by akyn (troubadour).

- Night in a yurt.

 

DAY 6:

 

YURT CAMP – VILLAGE UKHUM

- Breakfast in Yurt camp.

- Moving to the mountain village Uhum in Jizzakh region.

- Accommodation in a guest house in the mountain village Uhum. Excursion to the village Ukhum and to the petroglyphs in the valley Tykchasai (10 km).

- Dinner in the guest house.

- Overnight in the village Ukhum.

 

DAY 7:

 

VILLAGE UKHUM - SAMARKAND

- Breakfast in the guest house.

- Walking tour around the village. Upper Khayat and the mountain valley Hayatsay, observing the ruins of an old village and a visit to the Severtsov sheep breeding.

- Lunch.

- Trip to Samarkand. Hotel accommodation and free time.

- Dinner at the National House “Shakhnoza”. Night in Samarkand.

 

 

 

 

 

 

DAY 8:

 

SAMARKAND -  TASHKENT

- Breakfast. Check-out from the hotel.

- This day explore: the architectural masterpiece – the Mausoleum of Temurids (Gur-Emir), Registan square with the majestic madrasas dated back to different centuries: Ulugbek Madrasa (1417-1420), Sher-Dor Madrasa (1619-1636) and the Tilya Kori Madrasa (1647-1660), a unique complex where you can find all the artistic technologies of decorating Islamic buildings, Bibi-Khanum Mosque – one of the largest mosques of its time in the world.

- Lunch.

- Continue the excursion and see: Siab Bazaar, one the busiest in the city; the remains of the Ulugbek Observatory, which is the first observatory in the East; where coordination of stars was calculated with the help of a huge sextant; the Mausoleum of St. Daniel ashes of whom were reburied here in XIV century; the Shahi Zinda complex, a real gem of the architecture of Samarkand erected in XI-XV centuries.

- Transfer to the station, departure to Tashkent on an express train “Afrosiab”.

- Arrival in Tashkent. Dinner. Hotel accommodation.

 

DAY 9:

TASHKENT

- Breakfast in hotel. Check out.

- Explore the Old city and visit: Khast Imam Complex with Barak Khan madrasa, Mausoleum of Yunus Khan & Kafal-Al-Shashi; Chorsu Bazaar - one of the largest and oldest in Central Asia; Kukeldash madrasa – an Islamic school located beside the Juma Mosque which dates back to 15th century; Abdul Kasim madrasah where we can see a lot of souvenirs workshops.

- Lunch.

- Go on exploring and visit: Victims of Repressions Memorial (XIX cen.); Monument of Courage;

Amir Temur Square (XIX cen.); Grand Duke Romanov’s residence in Tashkent, who was the grandson of Nikolai I, Russian Czar.

- End of tour. Transfer to airport.
